Vaccinations – Dogs

Puppies

Core vaccine (Distemper-Adenovirus (Hepatitis)-Parvovirus)

Start at weaning or 6-8 weeks of age and every 3 weeks until 16-18 weeks of age.

Leptospirosis

Given as two doses no earlier than 12 weeks of age to those dogs in rural areas and in urban/suburban areas where this disease has been shown to exist

Rabies

Single vaccine 16 weeks of age.

All vaccines are boostered at one year and every three years thereafter.

Adults of unknown vaccine history

Core vaccines:

“Kennel Cough” or Bordetella

Given to those dogs that frequent groomers, kennels, dog parks or other areas where dogs may be concentrated. The vaccine lasts about 6 months and should be given fourteen days prior to a potential exposure.
